Is That A Word?

It's New to Me

Look through the section of your dictionary for your assigned letter. Find a word of which you were previously unaware, but which captures your interest for some reason. Complete the following.

  1. Write out the letter with which you are to work. _____

  2. Check off the dictionary you used to complete this assignment.

______ Random House Webster’s College Dictionary

______ Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Tenth edition

  1. Write out the word you chose (correctly spelled). ___________________________________

  2. Write out the complete definition for the word you chose. Include parts of speech, pronunciation, etc. If you do not have enough room here, complete your definition on the back of this sheet.

 

  1. Use the word you chose in a complete, clear, correctly written sentence.

 

  1. What about this word interests you?
